Ravens cornerback Lardarius Webb missed his third consecutive practice due to back issues Monday night. Coach John Harbaugh said Webb’s status would be further evaluated.
“We’re going to see about Lardarius,” Harbaugh said. “He’s got some back things. Backs are a little weird. At first it was no big deal. It’s lingering a little bit, so we’ll find out what’s going on.”
The Ravens will hope Webb’s back problems don’t linger. Webb and Jimmy Smith are firmly entrenched as the starting corners, but the Ravens are still searching for a nickel corner to replace Corey Graham. It may be difficult for the Ravens to find a replacement for Graham, signed with the Bills during free agency. Asa Jackson and Chykie Brown are the leading candidates at nickel corner, but an injury to Webb or Smith could leave the Ravens vulnerable in the secondary.
Brown returned to practice Monday night after missing Sunday’s practice with a tight hamstring. While the Ravens were glad to see Brown back in action, their secondary will be stronger when Webb returns.
