'We're not gonna overreact, but we are gonna react'

Ed Reed still hasn’t played for the Texans, but it seems no one with the team is too uptight about it.

To celebrate his 35th birthday Wednesday, his teammates got him a gift that poked fun at both his age and his injured status — a walker.

Reed apparently took it in stride and had fun with it.

“He started laughing and playing around with it. He’s a funny guy,” rookie safety D.J. Swearinger said, as reported by CBS Radio Houston.

Reed, the former Ravens safety who signed as a free agent with Houston in the off-season, only to be sidelined by hip surgery, missed the opener after sitting out the entire preseason. Reed was out on the practice field on Wednesday, but coach Gary Kubiak wasn’t ready to make a pronouncement on whether Reed would play Sunday against the Titans.

“I’ll probably answer that question better [Thursday] when we go back out there and get our pads on for a little bit again,” Kubiak said.
