The Ravens announced plans Monday to put Ray Lewis in their ring of honor on Sunday, Sept. 22, the date of their home game against Ed Reed and the Texans. It’s fitting that Reed will present to see Lewis honored. They were teammates for 11 seasons with the Ravens, and won a Super Bowl together last season. Reed figures to join Lewis in the Ravens' Ring of Honor one day.

Five other Ravens players are in their Ring of Honor – running back Jamal Lewis, kicker Matt Stover, offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden, linebacker Peter Boulware, and defensive end Michael McCrary. Late Ravens owner Art Modell is also in the ring of honor, along with eight Baltimore Colts.

Ogden will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in August, and Lewis is a lock to join Ogden in Canton once Lewis becomes eligible. One Lewis retired last season after 17 seasons at linebacker with the Ravens and winning his second Super Bowl.
