Ray Lewis' climb of Mount Kilimanjaro starts today, according to a report in The Baltimore Sun.
The Sun also said that former Ravens linebacker and defensive leader is going to have a pair of partners on the trip-- Doug Pitt, who has a brother that's an actor that some of you might have heard of. His name is Brad Pitt.
Plus, Tommie Harris will be there. He's the former Chicago defensive lineman who's also retired and, like Lewis, also a Pro Bowl guy.
The Sun reports that this climb is scheduled to run from today (July 3) until July 8.
Lewis is doing this to raise funds and awareness for clean-water projects in East Africa. He retired after this past season, when the Ravens won their second Super Bowl.
He was picked in the first round of the 1996 draft when the team moved to Baltimore and quickly grew into one of the NFL's greatest defensive players. The Ravens also grew into one of the NFL's top defenses with Lewis there.
Lewis now is going to be focusing on different goals since he's walked away from the game. This one is truly a different mountain to climb, and it's going to be quite a test. But Lewis certainly seems to like things like that.
