The Ravens need a left tackle. Bryant McKinnie filled that role nicely in the post-season when the Ravens made their Super Bowl run, and he's out there. It just seems like he's not at the top of their list at this moment.
McKinnie appears to be visiting the Dolphins and taking a physical there and might be going to see the Chargers. He went to college at Miami and keeps a home there.
The Ravens and GM Ozzie Newsome haven't seemed eager to say they'll do a deal with him in these talks around draft time. Is it similar to other players where the Ravens just seem to have had enough of his act and are changing things around a bit?
McKinnie's had problems since coming here from the Vikings, where he also had some troubles. He's had issues with weight, being in shape, and apparently coach John Harbaugh might not have been thrilled with all of that.
The Ravens might be happy to give Kelechi Osemele a shot at left tackle. They've played Michael Oher there, but it really appears right tackle is his home in the NFL.
McKinnie would solve all of those problems in a hurry, but the season's been over for just about three months now. They've certainly had time to make a deal, and it still could happen at some point if McKinnie can't get something somewhere else and the Ravens are OK with bringing him back.
For some reason, the Ravens just don't appear to be real hot on bringing McKinnie back. It looks more and more like they'd bring him back if they can't get anyone else and he's still out there. It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out.
