Breaking down the Ravens' schedule

The NFL released the Ravens schedule for 2013 tonight, and coach John Harbaugh's Super Bowl champions do open on the road at Denver, as most predicted, but they'll also get their share of big-time TV games, mostly in the second half of the season.

Baltimore will start this season on the road at Denver on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 8:30 (NBC, nationally televised). After that, the Ravens get their home opener on Sunday, Sept. 15, taking on division rival Cleveland before welcoming the Houston Texans to town one week later with old friend Ed Reed.

After that, the Ravens play four of the next five on the road, at Buffalo and Miami before coming home to meet the Packers. The Ravens then have a 4:25 p.m. game at the Steelers before getting a bye week after seven games.

The Ravens next head to Cleveland after the bye for another 4:25 p.m. game. Baltimore actually will have just one home game from Oct. 13 to Nov. 24. That's where the schedule balances out a little more favorably.

They finish the season with four of their final six games in Baltimore -- including the next three in a row. The Ravens play the Jets here on Nov. 24 and come back four days later to meet visiting Pittsburgh on Thanksgiving night at 8:30 p.m. Then comes Minnesota 10 days later at home.

The Ravens will then go to Detroit for Monday Night Football on Dec. 16. New England comes to town for a Sunday night game six days after that before the Ravens end the season a week later in Cincinnati.
