While you prepare for tonight’s NFL Draft — bringing in the tortilla chips and salsa, polishing up the rules of your drinking game tied to each time Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay argue — here’s a little something to pass the time: a list of the all-time best players taken at every number in the first round.

The list, compiled by,  features Ravens representation, with Ray Lewis at No. 26 and Ed Reed at No. 24. The club’s general manager and the man who made those picks, Hall of Fame tight end Ozzie Newsome, gets the call at No. 23.

Reed, an eight-time Pro Bowl safety, is given the nod over Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Rams running back Steven Jackson. Lewis, the Hall of Fame-bound linebacker, gets picked over two great offensive linemen, the Steelers’ Alan Faneca and the Bills’ and Browns’ Joe Delamielleure.

The pick at No. 1? That’s someone fans in Baltimore would rather forget — John Elway.
