If you want to play with a chip on your shoulder, maybe it helps to keep your pink slip in plain sight.

In this case, it’s not really pink and it’s a form letter marked “Notice of Termination,” but former Ravens safety Bernard Pollard is keeping it prominently taped up in his locker with the Titans, NFL.com’s Albert Breer reported via Twitter (thanks for the tip, BaltimoreRavens.com).

The Ravens checked this reason for letting Pollard go after he started for and led a Super Bowl-winning team in tackles: “In the judgment of the Club, your skill or performance has been unsatisfactory as compared with that of other players competing for positions on the Club's roster.”

Really? Would that be the box you would have checked for Pollard? There’s no box for “too outspoken for the Club’s taste,” but that was some of the speculation, especially as regards Pollard’s relationship with coach John Harbaugh.

In any case, posting the termination letter as a reminder of the Ravens’ apparent disdain for his abilities fits in with his decision not to accompany the team on its White House visit to celebrate the Super Bowl victory.

Leaves you to wonder if it will stay up all season.
