The Ravens need Sunday's game with the Giants. In addition, the Giants need Sunday's game with the Ravens. That's why this should be a game with some fire to it.
The big question is which team will come up their best effort. A loss for the Ravens wouldn't kill them, but if New York loses, that team could be in very big trouble.
So here's a few predictions from this game:
1. Eli Manning and Victor Cruz will cause some trouble for the Ravens secondary at some point-- Even though Manning's been inconsistent at times, he's still one of the NFL's most dangerous quarterbacks. Cruz is already one of the league's top receivers. Combine that with the fact that the Ravens' injury-depleted secondary is struggling, and on paper, the Giants could cause damage through the air.
2. Ray Rice will have a better game and cause his own trouble-- New York's defense has had problems throughout the season even though its strong in places. Like many, I'm of the opinion that the more Rice touches the ball, the more trouble he'll cause. It would be interesting to see what could happen if the Ravens would give him the ball 20-25 times and throw it to him a few more. He could turn the game around all by himself.
3. Joe Flacco again may not have much time to throw-- That's a big reason he's run into a slump lately. The offensive line hasn't given Flacco a lot of room or time to get rid of the ball. There will be more of the same of that this week with the big question being if Flacco speed up his delivery or getting rid of the ball.
4. Turnovers could be the key for the Ravens-- If the Baltimore defense can cause some, it could swing the game the Ravens' way.
PREDICTION: Giants 28, Ravens 20-- The problems on defense have been and will continue to be too much to overcome for the Ravens. They'll slow down Eli, but it won't be enough.
