Ravens' first-round pick?

If you were watching the Capital One Bowl Tuesday, you may have seen the Ravens’ No. 1 draft pick.

(By the way, not to interrupt myself or anything, but did you notice the Twitter hashtag for this game? It was #caponebowl. I saw that and wondered why there was a bowl game named after an infamous mobster.)

According to a mock draft by the National Football Post, the Ravens will pick Georgia linebacker Alec Ogletree, a junior who appears likely to declare for the draft because his stock has risen this season. National Football Post writes: “With Ray Lewis coming off a major injury and entering his 18th season in 2013, the Ravens jump at chance to grab Ogletree, who is the most explosive inside linebacker in the draft.”

Ogletree,  6 feet 3, 241 pounds, is a converted safety who still retains the speed of somebody who could play in the secondary. He led the team in tackles despite missing the first four games of the season. But the reason he missed those four games could be the rub for some NFL clubs when it comes draft time. Ogletree was suspended by Georgia for marijuana use. If that doesn’t concern the Ravens, it could help Ogletree’s availability for when the Ravens’ turn comes up in the first round.
