Ravens coach John Harbaugh can spend at least one more playoff Sunday rooting for his brother. The Harbaugh family is still in the Super Bowl hunt, after the 49ers coached by Jim Harbaugh topped the Packers, 23-20, in a pulsating playoff game.

That sets up a divisional playoff matchup this weekend between the 49ers and the Panthers. Jim Harbaugh will be coaching. And you can believe John Harbaugh will be rooting.

“I’m a 49ers fan,” John Harbaugh said laughing last week, near the end of his season-ending press conference.

John Harbaugh has put together an impressive resume with the Ravens, making the playoffs five out of six seasons, and winning a Super Bowl. Jim Harbaugh is building quite a resume with the 49ers, winning three straight division titles, and at least one playoff game every year. With a victory over Carolina, the 49ers would reach their third consecutive NFC championship game.

When the Harbaugh brothers met in last year’s Super Bowl, it was a proud moment but also bittersweet for the family, because one Harbaugh brother had to lose. This year, John Harbaugh is out of the playoff mix. But the Lombardi Trophy still has a chance to go from one Harbaugh to another.
