Ravens offense should create Caldwell buzz

One beneficiary of the Ravens’ performance in the postseason may be someone who could end up not with them much longer.

Given how the offense has functioned in the two playoff games so far, offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell has to have vaulted to the top of the list for any team looking for a new head coach. Given his resume as head coach of the Colts, Caldwell should have been up there anyway, but with the Ravens’ offensive machine humming through the playoffs, he has a fresh, impressive line to add to that resume.

However, as Pro Football Talk mentions, Caldwell now can’t interview with another team until after the Ravens’ season ends. If they reach the Super Bowl, that means another three weeks. A team without a head coach might be getting kind of itchy by then, but a club could also decide Caldwell is worth waiting for.

Another strong offensive effort in the AFC Championship Game for the Ravens, however, could well make a team like the Jaguars wait for the chance to talk with him.
