Coming off a game that has everyone worried about the Ravens secondary, maybe this isnt the time to be considering how a member of that group ranks among the AFC North competition, but we will anyway.
ESPN.com asked readers to rate the best cornerbacks in the division. No one ran away with the vote, but the Bengals Joe Haden was first with 36 percent, followed by the Steelers Ike Taylor (25) and the Ravens Lardarius Webb (21).
ESPN.coms Jamison Hensley said hed put Webb at No. 2 behind Haden. Hensley wrote: What separates Haden and Webb is their ability to make plays. Cornerbacks need to be playmakers.
If the Ravens secondary is going to have issues, it could be that Webb wont be getting many chances to make plays, as teams pick on weaker defensive backs.
The most impressive play in the Ravens-Lions preseason game on Friday? The beautifully executed onside kick by the Ravens in the waning minutes. Justin Tucker bounced the ball to an open spot, Deonte Thompson tipped it ahead and Omar Brown fell on it. Terrific teamwork.
If the competition between Tucker and incumbent kicker Billy Cundiff is at all close though Cundiff keeps expressing his confidence Tuckers performance on that onside kick is the sort of thing that could be a tiebreaker.
