Ray Lewis, face-masked man

When Ray Lewis returns to the field, he’ll look even more intimidating. He’ll be sporting a scary new face mask.

Lewis, working his way back from a torn triceps, wore the mask at practice this week. It has a bunch of vertical/diagonal and horizontal bars, and he pairs it with a dark visor. His face is basically obscured.

Overall, the effect is to make the Ravens’ Hall of Fame-bound linebacker look:

*Like Darth Vader’s tag-team partner.

*Like he’s wearing a muzzle. Dogs in the house? Indeed.

*Like he’s preparing to do battle in Gears of War.

In any case, an offensive lineman would put his fingers anywhere near that mask at his own risk.
