Everything’s cool between Ed Reed and Tom Brady.

The Ravens safety said he heard from Brady and the Patriots quarterback apologized for the cleats-up slide aimed at Reed on Sunday.

“You know, we talked,” Reed told 105.7 The Fan Tuesday (via NFL.com). “We talked actually not too long ago, we talked on the phone. He actually reached out to me, texted me. I tried to text him back, but the message exploded after 12 seconds, so I had to call him ... and he's just apologized and what-not. But I told him, 'You know, it's good, man.' "

Reed even sounded sympathetic, although Brady’s kick-up could have easily injured Reed.

“It's a tough spot the quarterback's in,” Reed said. “You know, I understand Brady's point. Him protecting himself. I know he's a great player. …  I know he's not a dirty player. …

“Brady's a great competitor and I love going against him and I know where his heart is at for this game. It was all good."

When you’re headed to the Super Bowl — and not with a debilitating injury courtesy of a sliding superstar — you can afford to be so magnanimous.
