Want some footage of 'the Mathlete' in action?

The Ravens Web site has video of new Ravens offensive lineman John Urschel in action -- not on the football field, but in the math classroom.

In case you missed it, Urschel is kind of smart. He graduated from Penn State in three years with a 4.0 GPA in mathematics. He earned a master's degree the next year and is working on his second advanced degree. His paper  in a journal called Celestial Mechanics and Dynamical Astronomy is one of his four publications in academic journals.

Urschel taught two math courses at Penn State last year -- trigonometry and analytic geometry as well as integral vector calculus trigonometry.

His twitter handle? @MathMeetsFball, of course. In fact, he tweeted that a fan sent him a physics textbook "to read in my downtime. I love it!"

Urschel, the Ravens' fifth-round draft pick who can play either center or guard, won the Campbell Trophy as the nation's top college football scholar-athlete.

There will be some new terminology and schemes with Gary Kubiak's Ravens playbook, but I'm guessing Urschel will be able to figure it out.
