The Ravens signed nine players to their practice squad Sunday who were among their final cuts. Those nine were cornerbacks Tramain Jacobs and Deji Olatoye, offensive lineman Ryan Jensen, defensive tackles Jamie Meder and A. J. Pataiali’i, outside linebacker John Simon, tight end Phillip Supernaw, running back Fitz Touissaint, and quarterback Keith Wenning.
Jensen was a 2013 sixth-round draft choice. Wenning was a seventh round pick this season, but did not make the 53-man roster when the Ravens decided to carry just two quarterbacks. Spending time on the practice squad will allow Wenning more time to develop with the Ravens.
Simon was a 2013 fourth-round draft pick, whose release Saturday was a mild surprise. He had a strong final preseason game in New Orleans, and could be part of the active roster sooner rather than later.
Touissant is an undrafted rookie from Michigan, but he earned an invitation to minicamp, and was impressive in the final preseason game with 103 yards rushing against the Saints.
The Dolphins announced Sunday they had claimed cornerback Sammy Seamster off waivers. The Ravens cut Seamster on Saturday after he failed to crack the Ravens’ crowded mix at cornerback.
