Some people taking fantasy football a bit too seriously
Ravens kicker Justin Tucker gave a huge shout-out to fantasy football players everywhere after winning Monday night’s game against the Lions. But one of his teammates, wide receiver Torrey Smith, is much less of a fan of fantasy fans.
Through Twitter (of course), Smith lashed out (via FoxSports.com) at the fantasy team owners who found his four-catch, 69-yard performance on Monday wanting:
“I hate y'all fantasy folks who are tweeting me about your fake team...y'all make me sick...Ravens win that's all that matters to me.”
He wasn’t done, naturally. Smith added: “I saw someone tweet that [Calvin Johnson] is the worst player on the league....those type of fantasy fans are the ones that drive me crazy … As I always say I dislike fantasy football because it takes away the real value of the game.”
And what kind of stuff are we talking about? Vitriol like this: “People I want to die: Dennis Pitta. You ruined my night, my week, my season, and my life.” Or: “Hey Jamaal Charles, I hope you die a horrible, pain-filled death. I lost fantasy playoffs by 5 points because of you.” And: “Die slow, Justin Tucker.”
Maybe Tucker wants to rethink his mention of Fantasy Nation.
