Ravens kicker Justin Tucker usually lets his foot do his talking for him, but in a Dr. Pepper ad making waves on the web, Tucker lets his remarkable pipes take over.
Tucker, a music major at Texas who brought the house down last year when he belted out the Italian aria, O Sole Mio, at the Ravens rookie talent show, shows off his remarkable singing range in the Dr. Pepper spot.
It opens with him belting out opera at a darkened Hippodrome, and includes him singing both opera and rap in his car.
All NFL kickers are quirky, but Tucker pushes the quirkiness envelope even further. As the Dr. Pepper ad suggests, he truly is one of a kind -- a football player who can sing opera in seven languages while wearing a Super Bowl ring he won as an undrafted rookie.
According to the team Web site, the ad was filmed over two days last spring at the Hippodrome, Towson University and a downtown recording studio. The spot, which is only on the Web for now, is expected to be developed into a television commercial.
Tucker loved the finished product, according to the team Web site, and wrote on his Twitter page: "Check out what happens when @DrPepper follows me around for a day."
Let's just say when his kicking days are over, Tucker can definitely take center stage of a different sort. As in Center Stage. Or the Lyric opera house.
