And then... it ended.
After a fast and furious 9th inning comeback to send their Tuesday night game with Seattle in to the wee hours of Wednesday morning, the Orioles finally beat the Mariners, 3-2, in 18 innings.
Both offenses sputtered during the first eight innings of extra baseball before the Baltimore's Taylor Teagarden broke through the 2-2 tie with an RBI single in the top of the 18th inning sending Nate McLouth home to score the winning run.
J.J. Hardy scored on a fielder's choice to provide the final run of the night, and Jim Johnson earned his 44th save.
The Orioles are now a tied with New York at the top of the American League East, with the Yankees game with Toronto being rained out.
