Maryland target Kevin Dorsey of Paul VI (Va.) has committed to Minnesota, the 2015 point guard announced via Twitter on Saturday morning.
Dorsey chose Minnesota over Nebraska and Maryland and becomes the first commitment for head coach Richard Pitino from the class of 2015. He is rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 84 overall player in the class, according to Rivals.com.
Dorsey is a part of two key recruiting bases for the Terrapins in the region, both his school and his Team Takeover (D.C.) AAU program. Incoming Maryland guard Dion Wiley also played for Takeover during his prep days.
For now, Maryland remains without any commitments in 2015. It has been looking for depth in the backcourt going forward, being that graduate transfer Richaud Pack will have exhausted his eligibility by the end of the 2014-15 season.
