Midnight Madness returns to Cole Field House
Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson is "not pursuing any other professional opportunities at other institutions," he wrote as part of a statement on the school's website Friday evening.
Anderson had been linked in media reports to the athletic director position at the University of Texas and the statement Friday was his first public acknowledgement of those reports.
"I must confess I am humbled to be mentioned in connection with such a position, but more importantly, I feel it speaks volumes to the outstanding progress we have made at the University of Maryland and to the new heights our athletic department is destined for in the future," Anderson wrote.
"I am steadfast in my commitment to the University of Maryland."
Anderson came to Maryland in 2010 and was instrumental in the school's move to the Big Ten Conference, which officially takes place next season.
During his tenure, Maryland has seen the departure of long-time coaches in two major revenue sports--football and men's basketball--and the hirings of coaches Randy Edsall and Mark Turgeon.
