Edsall discusses CJ Brown's status, previews Virginia
Maryland starting quarterback C.J. Brown is listed as doubtful for Saturday's ACC matchup against Virginia, according to the team's injury report released Thursday evening.
Brown suffered a concussion in the second quarter of Maryland's 63-0 loss to Florida State on Saturday and left the game. He did not return.
On the play he was injured, he was wrapped up from behind by Florida State linebacker Christian Jones, then took a hit to the chest from defensive lineman Jacobbi McDaniel.
Brown fell to the ground, visibly in pain, and remained there for a time as trainers examined him. He was lifted to his feet and walked to the locker room under his own power.
Since being diagnosed with a concussion, Brown has been following the program's concussion protocol, undergoing tests and evaluations to determine his status for Saturday.
If he is unable to play, backup Caleb Rowe will start under center. Rowe replaced Brown after he went down with injury Saturday and finished 119 yards on 9-of-17 passing.
Kickoff between Virginia and Maryland in College Park is set for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
