It's often a celebrated event when the Dalai Lama makes an appearance in the United States, and the 2013 edition trip stateside will bring him to six different American cities.
His first stop was Tuesday in College Park, Md., where he was in attendance to give at lecture at Comcast Center. And while in College Park, he proudly wore a Maryland visor.
So does that mean he's a Terps fan? Well, not exactly.
As Deadspin detailed in a piece published Tuesday, the Dalai Lama often wears local school colors on each of his stops within the United States. Over the course of his travels, he has been pictured wearing Indiana red, Syracuse orange, and California blue, along with apparel from USC, UCSD, and others.
That likely means we won't see him courtside to see coach Mark Turgeon's squad or at the 50-yard line for kickoff at Byrd Stadium, but we know one thing for sure: The Dalai Lama can play the heartstrings of the locals.
