D.C. Assault co-founder Herman "Curtis" Malone has been arrested and charged in connection with a DEA investigation into drug sales in the D.C. area that spanned close to one year, court records show.
Malone was arrested on Friday around 9 p.m. in Northeast D.C. after police executed a search warrant on his Maryland home earlier in the day.
During that search, police found one kilogram of suspected cocaine, approximately 100 grams of suspected heroin, and a handgun.
Malone was one of two men charged in the case, along with Micah Jerry Bidgell.
Throughout the course of the investigation, documents show police used an informant and authorized wiretaps to draw a connection between Bidgell and Malone. Malone was identified as the individual who allegedly supplied narcotics to Bidgell.

Malone founded the D.C. Assault AAU program in 1993 and it has since risen to prominence in Washington, D.C. area.
Since its inception, a number of college and professional players have played for D.C. Assault and it has been recognized as one of the premiere AAU programs in the country.
No other members of the D.C. Assault program have been implicated in the case.
