Head coach Mark Turgeon revealed after the game that the reason Dez Wells did not start against Virginia Tech was because he was late to a team gathering before Saturday's game against the Hokies.

ORIGINAL STORY

Fresh off a 21-point outing and after hitting a game-winner against Miami, Maryland junior guard Dez Wells was not in the starting lineup on Saturday vs. Virginia Tech for an unspecified reason.

At 14.9 points per game, Wells leads the team in scoring and has scored in double figures in all but three games this season.

Junior Nick Faust started in his place and began the game defending Virginia Tech's best player, Jarell Eddie. 

He entered the game at the 19:04 mark of the first half.
