Randy Edsall speaks at Maryland convocation
Close to 24 hours before his team was set to take the field in its season opener against Florida International, Maryland head coach Randy Edsall took to the microphone to encourage new students gathered Friday at Comcast Center in College Park to come out to the Terps first game of the year.
"What we want to do is have you guys together with us every Saturday home football game," he said. "So you can make a difference in how our guys play and the enthusiasm that you bring to the stadium."
The Terps are favored by 23 points over FIU, a team that is in the middle of a major transition after firing its head coach in the offseason.
Maryland quarterback C.J. Brown is back under center after missing the entire 2012 season recovering from a knee injury.
Kickoff is at 12:30 p.m. from Byrd Stadium. The game will be televised in high definition on Comcast SportsNet.
