Final round. Here we go.
After two five-day sets of live recruiting for NCAA coaches, we are now coming down the home stretch. Coaches and assistants will be able to evaluate players in person for the last time until the fall.
Here's a preview of some of the biggest events to look forward to:
Live in Atlantic City (July 24-26, Atlantic City, N.J.)
Comcast SportsNet attended this Reebok-sponsored event last season and it was among those most loaded with talent. This year, CIA Bounce, D.C. Assault (B), Expressions Elite, New Jersey Playaz, Team Philly, and Team Takeover.
Among those on Team Takeover are Maryland commit Dion Wiley. Wiley had some strong showings at the Nike Global Challenge last weekend in D.C., but also struggled to find his groove in some games. He will play alongside Phil Booth, who has Georgetown in his final five schools.
Fab 48 (July 25-28, Las Vegas, Nev.)/Adidas Super 64 (July 24-28, Las Vegas, Nev.)
With these two events happening at the same time, college coaches typically shuttle between the two events.
Super 64, as one would expect, features the best from the Adidas summer circuit, while Fab 48 features a mix of sponsored teams including many from the Under Armour circuit. Among them will be Sports U/Maryland commit Jared Nickens and D.C. Assault/Maryland commit Romelo Trimble.
"The Takeover" National Invitational (July 27-28, Bowie, Md.)
This event is run by Team Takeover and coach Keith Stevens, a local AAU powerhouse program. Teams are to be determined, but expect a number of college coaches in attendance, especially among those who just got back from events in Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
AAU Super Showcase (July 18-28, Lake Buena Vista, Fla.)
AAU Nationals (July 18-29, Lake Buena Vista, Fla.)
