Former Maryland Terrapins and current Indianapolis Colts center Phil Costa has retired, the team announced in a release on Monday afternoon.
“Phil feels it’s in his best interest to retire from the game,” general manager Ryan Grigson said in a release. “We certainly understand and wish him nothing but the best.”
Costa played for Maryland from 2005-09, including redshirting his freshman season in 2005. He started all 12 games for the team as a senior and was an all-conference nominee that season. He went undrafted in 2010 but signed with the Dallas Cowboys.
He played for Dallas from 2010-2013 before signing with Indianapolis in March of this year.
Costa is 26 years old.
