Three future Maryland Terrapins--Romelo Trimble, Dion Wiley, and Jared Nickens--competed in Friday night's Kentucky Derby Festival Basketball Classic in Louisville, Ky.
The annual all-star event featured some of the nation's top talent, including a number of players with local ties and players who Maryland will face next season in the Big Ten.
Check out stats below:
Romelo Trimble: 9 points | 2-of-9 FG | 8 rebounds | 7 assists
Trimble was more of a facilitator on Friday night. One of his more notable plays came off of dribble penetration when he drove to his right and into the lane, throwing an alley-oop to UNLV signee Goodluck Okonoboh for a slam.
Dion Wiley: 7 points | 2-of-5 FG | 2 rebounds | 1 assist
It looks as though Wiley has trimmed some weight since the start of the high school season and his crisp and fundamental shooting form remains. Media in attendance for the Classic's practices noted that Wiley excelled.
Jared Nickens: 6 points | 2-of-5 FG | 1 rebound | 2 assists
Nickens looks to be an asset from the perimeter for Maryland next season and that's what he did best on Friday. His 2-of-3 mark from three-point range is what head coach Mark Turgeon will be looking for. On one sequence, Nickens took the ball on a handoff toward the left wing, pulled up, and hit the three.
