Edsall: 'Way too many turnovers, way too many mistakes'
Injuries to Stefon Diggs and Deon Long were not the end of the misery in Maryland's wide receiving corps. Two more are out with injuries Saturday vs. Virginia Tech, the program announced in its weekly report on Thursday evening.
Levern Jacobs (head) and DeAndre Lane (hamstring) will not play when the Terrapins travel to Blacksburg on Saturday. The two were slotted in as the starter and backup, respectively, at the slot wide receiver position, which will force coach Randy Edsall to rearrange the unit.
Backup quarterback Ricardo Young has been shifted to wide receiver already, Edsall told the media on Tuesday, and these latest injuries could work him into the offense.
The Terrapins also have more movement on the offensive line, as starting left tackle Moise Larose (foot) has been ruled out against Virginia Tech. The freshman started in place of Mike Madaras against Syracuse after Madaras left the program and now Larose will be sidelined in Blacksburg.
According to the team's depth chart released on Tuesday, junior Jake Wheeler will become the team's starting left tackle.
