Maryland hires Nima Omidvar as director of basketball ops

Maryland has hired former NC State director of basketball operations Nima Omidvar to fill the same position on staff with the Terrapins, the program announced in a release on Tuesday. 

Omidvar is a graduate of Maryland and has ties to the Washington, D.C., area with AAU powerhouse Team Takeover and WCAC champion Paul VI (Va.).

“We’re happy to welcome Nima back to the University of Maryland,” head coach Mark Turgeon said in a statement.

“Nima is a great addition to our staff and it’s always exciting to bring back a member of the Terrapin family. His coaching experience combined with the inroads he has made in our community through his background in grassroots basketball makes him the ideal person for this position.”

Maryland highlights in its release the work Omidvar had done with ACC Player of the Year T.J. Warren during his time with the Wolfpack, as well as his administrative experience with the program.
