Maryland linebacker Yannik Cudjoe-Virgil has been named to the Butkus Award Watch List, an annual honor that recognizes the country's top linebacker, the program announced in a statement on Monday.
Cudjoe-Virgil tallied 18 total tackles, three sacks, and one interception in five games in 2013 before suffering a season-ending injury on Oct. 12 against Virginia.
He now enters his senior season on an overwhelmingly veteran defense and as a key player during Maryland's first season in the Big Ten. He is one of four linebackers from the conference on the Butkus Watch List.
Maryland opens its season on Aug. 30 against James Madison.
