Maryland head coach Randy Edsall has decided on three captains to lead the Terrapins into Saturday's game against South Florida in Tampa, the team's first road game of the 2014 season.
Offense: Albert Reid, running back
Reid carried the ball five times as part of Maryland's three-pronged rushing attack in Week 1 against James Madison. He finished with 23 yards on the ground.
Defense: Matt Robinson, linebacker
Robinson, now fully healthy after a string of injuries over the course of his career at Maryland, registered six tackles and a pass breakup against James Madison. He should get some more help in the linebacking corps against South Florida with fellow senior Cole Farrand expected back at full strength.
Special Teams: Sean Davis, safety
Davis was the shining star of the defense and return coverage teams on Saturday. He finished with 10 tackles and one monstrous hit on a James Madison punt return that earned praise from head coach Randy Edsall this week.
“It didn’t surprise that Sean went out and had the kind of game that he had today,” head coach Randy Edsall said. “He’s worked extremely hard. You talk about a young man who has really put a lot of time and a lot of effort into his game this summer, not only from a physical standpoint but the work that he’s done in the film room pays dividends.”
