Maryland has nabbed a commitment from three-star DeMatha (Md.) running back Lorenzo Harrison, Mike Farrell of Rivals.com and a host of other outlets are reporting.
Harrison is ranked as the No. 10 all-purpose back in the country from the class of 2016, according to Rivals.com. He becomes the first commitment for the Terrapins from the class of 2016, to go along with 17 pledges from the class of 2015.
At running back, Maryland likely plans to use junior Brandon Ross and redshirt sophomore Wes Brown in combination this season with reps for junior Albert Reid sprinkled into the mix. By the time Harrison is scheduled to hit college, Ross and Reid will have graduated and Brown will be a senior.
A the start of the day, Maryland had two three-star running back commits from the class of 2015 in Ty Johnson of Cumberland, Md. and Deltron Sands of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Sands recently reportedly received an offer from Louisville and, according to Ryan Bartow of 247Sports.com, has decommitted from Maryland.
The running back confirmed the news Wednesday via Twitter.
