Brace yourselves. Ice cream is coming.

As part of a promotional push this summer during Maryland’s transition to the Big Ten, the school will be releasing what it calls a “special commemorative B1G ice cream flavor” during an on-campus event on July 1.

July 1 also happens to be the day that Maryland officially becomes a member of the Big Ten.

No word yet on what the flavor will be, but your imagination is free to run wild until it is officially revealed. Crab, perhaps? How about classic Midwestern staple like Chicago deep-dish pizza? Or maybe it will taste like increased television revenue.

Who knows?

The unveiling of the ice cream is part of the larger Big Ten rollout, which also includes a two-day celebration from June 30-July 1 that includes an unspecified “special event” in Baltimore and a night at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.
