The preseason recognition continues to roll in for Maryland junior wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who is now one of 55 receivers named as candidates for the Biletnikoff Award, the program announced in a statement on Tuesday.
The Biletnikoff Award honors the nation's best pass-catcher, whether he is a wide receiver, tight end, slot back, or running back.
Diggs is coming off an injury-shortened season in which he caught 34 passes for 587 yards and three touchdowns. He was lost for the year after suffering a broken leg in an October loss to Wake Forest.
Having worked through his recovery since undergoing surgery to repair the injury last fall, he is expected back for camp next month. He took part in non-contact drills in the spring and head coach Randy Edsall has maintained that the junior would be fully ready to go for the team's season opener on Aug. 30.
Diggs is one half of perhaps the best receiving tandem in the conference, along with senior Deon Long.
