Maryland quarterback C.J. Brown has been ruled out of Saturday's game against Virginia, the program announced Saturday.
As of Thursday's injury report, Brown had been listed as doubtful while he underwent the program's concussion protocol, including tests and evaluations throughout the week.
He warmed up on the field Saturday as part of the ongoing injury evaluations, but will not play when the Terrapins take the field against the Cavaliers.
In his place under center will be sophomore Caleb Rowe. Rowe filled in for Brown after he was injured in the second quarter of last week's loss to Florida State, completing 9-of-17 passes for 119 yards.
Rowe, though not as effective a runner as Brown, has arguably the strongest arm on the roster and has been preparing since last week's game in the event that Brown could not play.
Without Brown in the lineup, look for Maryland to alter its zone-read scheme to include more passing packages and less designed quarterback runs.
