It's Little League World Series season, which means we're in the dog days of pro baseball and in that sweet (or sour) spot right before football gets underway.

Maryland football seized the opportunity on Twitter, sharing a photo of current defensive back Anthony Nixon when he played in Williamsport in 2006.

According to the Little League website and news accounts at the time, Nixon was part of a team from Greater Pittsburgh that headed to Williamsport to play three exhibition games as part of an initiative funded by Major League stars including Torii Hunter and Gary Sheffield.

A report from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette even quoted a young Nixon.

"I want to have a day of fun," he said. "No, a week of fun."

Nixon now enters his junior season as a defensive back for Maryland. He started 11 games for the Terrapins last season, including a 12-tackle showing in a win over Virginia on Oct. 12.
