Excitement at Maryland over visit by President Obama
President Barack Obama and the First Family attended Maryland's matchup Sunday evening at Comcast Center in College Park. Below are photos from US Presswire and the Associated Press of his visit.
President Obama boldly strolled into Under Armour territory in a fresh pair of Nikes (and Carolina Blue Nikes, no less), but he's the President of the United States so I'm almost certain he has constitutional authority to do so.
Obama and family sat behind Oregon State's bench, not far behind coach Craig Robinson, the brother of Michelle Obama and brother-in-law of the President.
Both of Obama's daughters, Malia (left) and Sasha (right) attended Sunday's game. Notice Sasha's unicorn sweater.
We can't be sure what the President was doing in this photo, but we can imagine he was calling out some sort of play for Oregon State. Isolation for Roberto Nelson? Nelson finished with a game-high 31 points.
One negative of having floor seats is the lack of viewing angles at times. Here he is peeking around Craig Robinson's shoulder to see the action.
We can't be sure exactly when this photo was taken, but the smile of Michelle Obama's face means it's likely some time around Oregon State's 8-0 run to start the second half.
Coach 'em up, Mr. President.
The First Family left with a smile, though, as Robinson's Oregon State team got the 90-83 win.
