Redskins reportedly hire former Maryland linebacker Brian Baker

Terps drop Military Bowl, still finish winning season

Former Maryland linebacker Brian Baker is expected to become the newest member of head coach Jay Gruden's staff as the outside linebackers coach with the Washington Redskins, Albert Breer of NFL Network is reporting.

Baker played for the Terrapins from 1981-83 and was part of Maryland's 1983 ACC championship team.

He graduated from the university in 1985 with a degree in marketing. He was on Maryland's staff from 1984-85 in the same role that he will take with the Redskins, before moving on to Army and Georgia Tech in the college ranks, then San Diego, Detroit, Minnesota, St. Louis, Carolina, and Cleveland in the NFL.

Baker is a native of Baltimore and served most recently as the outside linebackers coach for the Browns.
