Terps drop Military Bowl, still finish winning season
Maryland defensive line coach Greg Gattuso did not coach in the Military Bowl, instead deciding to get a head start at his new job as the head coach at Albany.
Now, the Terrapins have reportedly filled the position by hiring Ball State defensive line coach Chad Wilt, TestudoTimes.com is reporting.
Prior to his three-season stint at Ball State, Wilt was an assistant at Richmond in 2010, Virginia in 2009, and Liberty from 2006-08. He is a native of Carlisle, Pa., who played his college football at Taylor University in Upland, Ind.
Wilt changed his Twitter profile icon to a Maryland logo and tweeted a message that would seem to allude to the news of him leaving Ball State:
Dad taught me long ago the only thing consistent about life is change. Sad to say goodbye to such a great group of players. Love you! #SQUAD— Chad Wilt (@ChadWilt) January 11, 2014
Ball State defensive end Kyle Seger tweeted his congratulations to Wilt
Congrats to @ChadWilt. He gave me an opportunity that I will always be thankful for. A great coach and even a better person.— Kyle Seger (@KyleSeger_44) January 11, 2014
