Former Maryland head coach Ralph Friedgen is expected to be hired as the next offensive coordinator at Rutgers, Tom Luicci of The Star-Ledger is reporting.
Friedgen was fired from Maryland following the 2010 season, a year in which his team won the Military Bowl and he won ACC Coach of the Year. He was replaced by current head coach Randy Edsall.
During his 10 seasons at Maryland, Friedgen amassed an overall record of 75-50, including a 5-2 record in bowl games. In 2002, the Terrapins defeated Tennessee, 30-3, and finished the season ranked No. 13 in the country.
Rutgers is making the move to the Big Ten, along with Maryland, beginning in July of this year. The Scarlet Knights are scheduled to visit College Park on Nov. 29, 2014, the final game of the Terrapins regular season.
