For the first time publicly since announcing his departure from Maryland, guard Seth Allen went in depth about a range of topics on WNST Radio in Baltimore from the reasons for his departure to playing style to the possible departures of some of his former teammates.
Allen, who has yet to pick the school at which he will play out the remainder of his college eligibility, was asked about sophomore forward Charles Mitchell.
In recent weeks, Mitchell has been rumored to be following four other players out the door and leaving the program, but Allen was hesitant to elaborate on any possible move.
“I don’t have any inside information on him,” Allen said. “His decision is his decision. And just like me, Nick [Faust], Roddy[Peters}, Shaq [Cleare], everybody else, he has to make a decision what’s best for him.
“So whether that’s here or somewhere else, Charles Mitchell has to make that decision for himself.”
Allen and Mitchell are good friends and roommates, the guard said. Mitchell is also close with Cleare, who transferred to Texas this spring.
Mitchell averaged 6.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game last season for Maryland.
