Maryland has added a fifth player to its 2014 recruiting class, as Slovakian seven-footer Michal Cekovsky verbally pledged to head coach Mark Turgeon on Monday afternoon, Comcast SportsNet has confirmed.

The news was first reported by InsideMDSports.com.

The native of Slovakia has been playing at Canarias Academy in Spain. Among the other reported offers Cekovsky has received are Louisville, Arizona, Florida, Connecticut, Oregon, and Florida State. Assistant Dustin Clark, who took over for Dalonte Hill on staff midway through the 2013-14 season, was a major influence in the program's recruitment of Cekovsky.

Maryland now has five commitments from the Class of 2014, as Cekovsky joins guards Romelo Trimble and Dion Wiley, swingman Jared Nickens, and center Trayvon Reed.
