West Virginia cornerback Ishmael "Ickey" Banks has reportedly been suspended for the first three games of the 2014 season for an "academic issue," according to Mike Casazza of the Charleston Daily Mail.

What does that have to do with Maryland? The Terrapins are slated to face the Mountaineers in College Park in the third week of the season, the final game that Banks will be suspended.

On its face, it benefits Maryland. West Virginia ranked 101st in the nation in points allowed per game last season (34.8) and 107th in the country in passing yards allowed per game (268.5).

Banks finished last season with 33 total tackles and two interceptions.

During Banks' suspension, West Virginia will also face Alabama and Towson.
