Turgeon: "We didn't make shots tonight"
Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon, George Washington head coach Mike Lonergan, and George Mason coach Paul Hewitt are going to make milkshakes this week. Seriously. Milkshakes.
The three head coaches will lead their teams against each other in the BB&T Classic on Sunday at Verizon Center, but will also be competing at Spike Mendelsohn’s Good Stuff Eatery in Georgetown on Friday, Dec. 6 in a milkshake-making contest for charity. The event begins at 11:45 a.m.
"The BB&T Classic brings the best basketball players and avid sports fans together in high spirits for a great purpose- to support CCF, “ Chef Spike Mendelsohn said a release. “We’re excited to take the talent off of the court and put it in the kitchen to see who can handle the heat.”
Here's the premise: Lonergan, Turgeon, and Hewitt will each be provided ingredients and chef outfits to create the best-tasting milkshake they think money can buy. They will be judged by a panel that includes former Washington Redskins Derrick Dockery and Stephon Heyer.
The winner's milkshake will be sold at Good Stuff Eatery for the month of December and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to children's charities.
Not a bad appetizer for a weekend of basketball at Verizon Center.
