As Maryland prepares for the start of camp and team media day on Monday, USA Today released its annual preseason Top 25 poll.
Two ACC schools--Clemson and Florida State--made the list, with the Tigers checking in at No. 8 and the Seminoles at No. 12.
Miami, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina also received votes. Miami and Virginia Tech will begin the season just outside the Top 25 at No. 27 and No. 30, respectively.
Fittingly enough, the Terps will open their ACC season against Florida State in Tallahassee on Oct. 5. Despite losing starting quarterback E.J. Manuel to the Buffalo Bills in the first round NFL Draft, one of 11 Seminoles selected overall, the strong defensive core remains.
Three weeks after Florida State, Maryland welcomes Clemson to College Park on Oct. 26. ACC Preseason Player of the Year Tahj Boyd leads the Tigers, along with receiver Sammy Watkins. The Terps will have met Clemson just one week after what could be a conference-changing game between Florida State and Clemson on Oct. 19.
Maryland does not play Miami or North Carolina this season, but will travel to Blacksburg on Nov. 16 to face Virginia Tech.
With more clarity and less injury at the quarterback position in 2013, Maryland was chosen to finish 5th in the ACC's Atlantic Division at conference media day. Wide receiver and kick returner Stefon Diggs was named to the All-ACC team as a specialist.
Diggs missed being named to the team at the wide receiver position by just one vote, losing out to Wake Forest's Michael Campanoro.
CSN will have full coverage from Maryland camp and media day beginning Monday, Aug. 5.
