BALTIMORE (AP) -- Lamont Jones led the way with 23 points and David Laury pitched in his fifth double-double of the season as Iona topped Loyola (Md.) 79-71 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action Sunday.

Jones entered fourth in the NCAA averaging 22.3 points per game and hit 11 of 12 free throws while upping his average.

Laury scored 10 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for his third consecutive double-double, and fourth straight game with double-digit rebounds.

The Gaels (14-7, 8-2) have won eight of their past nine games. The win was Iona's 300th in MAAC play, the most of any current conference member.

Dylon Cormier led the Greyhounds (15-7, 7-3) with 18 points.

Loyola moved the ball effectively, with R.J. Williams recording seven of the team's 18 assists. The Greyhounds made just 38.9 percent (28 of 72) of their shots, however, lagging behind Iona's efficient, 48.1-percent showing (26 of 54).
