Jill Sorenson has established a reputation as one of the area's most respected media members throughout a decade-long tenure covering the region as a television journalist, including five years as an anchor and reporter for Comcast SportsNet.
Sorenson serves as Comcast SportsNet's television beat reporter covering the Washington Capitals. In this position, she leads the network's coverage of the Capitals, reporting on all team-related news for SportsNet Central and Washington Post Live. She also contributes to Capitals PostGame Live.
Sorenson returned to the role of Capitals television beat reporter in August 2010 after serving as an anchor and reporter for the network since 2005. Sorenson, who led the Comcast SportsNet's coverage of the Capitals from 2005 to 2007, spent four years as the Capitals beat reporter for WRC-TV (NBC) from 2000 to 2004, where she was a sports anchor and reporter.
Prior to joining Comcast SportsNet, Sorenson was a news anchor and reporter for WTTG-TV (FOX), where she won an Associated Press Award for her reporting. A two-time Emmy Award-nominee, she claimed the top prize for sports series in 2000 for her work with WRC. Prior to arriving in Washington, she also served as a sports anchor and reporter at WDIO-TV (ABC) in Duluth, Minn.
A graduate of Brown University, Sorenson earned degrees in English and Hispanic Studies and was a member of the school's soccer team. She resides in Montgomery County, Md., with her husband, Matt, and two children.
